On big-game-less days, families enjoy the restaurant offerings and watch whatever ESPN broadcasts on the massive plasma screens. More active types can head downstairs to knock around cue balls, while the swinging door out front knocks around innocent bystanders. But aside from that hazard, M.J. Armstrong’s is truly a neighborhood spot: Named after 9/11 victim Michael J. Armstrong, its front table edges the open air on warmer days for neighbor interactions, and for employees of the many nearby medical facilities, a flash of a hospital ID gets a 10-percent discount.
