Mad Dog & Beans: Pitched as an “upscale casual” cantina, this bustling bi-level joint falls somewhere on the NYC spectrum between the fancy-pantalones Dos Caminos and Rosa Mexicano and the more Average José places like Caliente Cab – with a festive atmosphere that’s all Stone Street. Inside, MD&B's mix of exposed brick and dark wood is a good sign that both the tequila and the crowd are a bit more adult than you might expect from the name. But, hey, it's still a party, so once inside, order a Berta (tequila, syrup, lime juice and soda), grab some real estate near the bar and start getting your flirt on; it’s definitely that kind of place. Yeah, the food might be pricey for what you get, but having said that, definitely get the guacamole ($12). Besides, you’ll save money by splitting a cab home with that guapo or bonita you took tequila shots with at the bar.
