Work in SoHo and craving an after-office cocktail? If you’re not in the mood for the trendy (cough, overpriced) scenes that characterize the ‘hood, you just may have found your reprieve, well so long as it’s a Wednesday night. Mae Mae, run by catering company Great Performances, is a locavore’s dream tucked behind the semblance of a lunchtime café. By day, SoHo workers snack on an ever-changing menu of locally sourced sandwiches and soups, taunted by the gleaming wine bottles that line the rich red walls. Come Wednesday, the café transitions seamlessly from day-to night, as a jazz band sets up to provide the perfect accompaniment to that glass of vino ($7-$9). And with an inventive cocktail menu ($8-$9) making use of their farm fresh ingredients (try the spiked lemonade), happy hour just got a little happier.
