The folks at Magnetic Field know how to make good use of space. This self-styled “rock-n-roll cocktail lounge” isn’t huge, yet accommodates sold-out rock shows; it gets crowded, but retains intimacy. And it’s cool in an effortless, genuine sort of way. Retro-style booths provide comfy seating separate from the bar, which is backed by funky, vaguely sci-fi illustrations. The pool table’s raised platform doubles as a stage for the frequent live music, though the events calendar reveals higher aspirations: DJs, live-band karaoke, game shows, movies, and readings are also on offer. Lengthy beer and bourbon lists keep drinkers happy, as do specials like the Tuesday all-night happy hour. And if you do party like a rock star, $3 gets you paparazzi—inside the old-fashioned photo booth, that is. |
