Maharlika:
This “pop-up” is the perfect place to pop in for weekend brunch Filipino style. Maharlika has quickly become almost a chain of unique Pinoy cuisine joints, popping up in the most curious places (another location has just opened at the Dekalb Market). But with such interesting items, it’s no wonder why. It’s hard to ignore the SPAM- (yes, SPAM) comprised Eggs Benigno (a take-off on Eggs Benedict, $12)—or the Sizzling Sisig (grilled pig ears, snout and belly, $13), but the whole menu is full of tasty curios. Dinner is currently not being served, but you can still get loaded on before-noon favorites like bloody marys and mimosas for a mere $5 a glass. The space, adorned with pics of retro Filipino fiestas, is only booked until December, so add this pop-up to your to-do list ASAP.
