Marea: This sleek temple to seafood is the latest venture from dining duo Chris Cannon and Michael White. The name is Italian for tide, and everything about the place says primo. Pedestals mounting individual seashells line the dining room. The black onyx bar, offset by undulating wood tones, makes you feel awash in a sea of money. Chef White, affectionately called “Tonno,” is clearly going for the gusto. In fact, White is so finicky about sourcing his catch that only hand-harvested scallops make the menu. Other delectable dishes include: yellowfin tuna, lobster, seafood pastas, and raw fish has its own section on the menu. Marea will have you singing, “Dahling it’s better, down where it’s wetter, under da sea!” Dining here may cost a boatload of cash, but is the name-dropper's mantra of the year. |
