Marfa:
It’s a border-state bodega meets Burning Man. This trendy gallery slash eatery hangs work from the art mecca of Marfa, Texas on the plain stucco walls of a tacqueria. It’s a perfect blend of high and low, and a great setup for people watching. Downtown creative types saunter from room to room, checking out the rotating exhibit and the crowd. Low prices don’t exactly hurt, either. The menu, all southern comfort food, offers plenty of small plate options. Tapas staples include barbecued shrimp, chile, and baby back ribs. Mixologist Marshall Altier, formerly of Insieme, mixes a super-hot house Marfarita with Serrano-infused tequila. There's even an El Cheapo special: PBR with a mystery shot. Great way to ensure no artist is left behind.
