Marion's Continental:
CLOSED.
After World War II, Marion Nagy escaped Stalinist Hungary for France. When she made her way to America in 1950, she did what any refugee-cum-couture-model would—she opened her own restaurant/lounge. For 23 years, Nagy entertained the literati and glitterati at her Bowery saloon. In 1990, her son reopened the space in all its retro-glam glory. The décor tells the place’s history: wavy black banquettes against ’70s orange walls; a disco ball spinning to lounge music; JFK and Jackie O. next to an autographed head shot of Burt Reynolds. Like the surroundings, the scene is older and a little more sophisticated than at most other bars that flank the Bowery, although the area is gentrifying. Times, they are a changin’, even if Marion’s never will.
The atmosphere is awesome and the food tastes wonderful. Very innovative and tasty! Service there was also great! Funny people with warm smiles! Great Cocktails! You will never get bored!!! Must go this weekend! Make a reservation now!
