Mayahuel: Mayahuel, named after a divinity sometimes referred to as the Mexican goddess of tequila, isn't the type of bar where you'd want to take a shot of Cuervo. The space is intimate, purposely aged and not to be attempted past midnight. Like Death + Company, Mayahuel only lets in as many people as there are seats, and only on a first-come, first-served basis. There's some bottled beer and a few wines, but who orders rose at a tequila bar? Standout cocktails include the "Watermelon Sugar", a combination of muddled watermelon, tequila, mescal, and cane syrup. Although owner- Ravi Lalchandani won't divulge just how many tequilas he has behind the counter, he said, "We don't have a million, but we have the best." |
