Have you seen the Empire State Building lately? We mean, really seen it—as in practically having your face in it? If the answer is no, or if you just have out-of-town guests, head to MeBar. This cozy spot is right in the middle of Little Korea, which means ethnic restaurants galore and duty-free shops where nothing is in English. The La Quinta Inn is the most beautiful building on the block, complete with a turn-of-the-century limestone façade and gargoyles at the doorway. The rooftop MeBar offers reasonably priced drinks and a picket-fence patio where it seems you might accidentally bump into the Empire State Building if you lean over too far. The management here is decidedly anti-pretentious, which comes in handy when you get the bill.
