Megu Midtown: Lucky for us, there are two Megus in NYC, and they’re both excellent. In TriBeCa, Megu’s grand: thick menu, spacious dining area, upper-level lounge, big Buddha ice sculpture. The Midtown locale, opened in April ’06, is considerably more intimate (and there's no ice sculpture). Huge ceiling lamps and smart angles provide a feel of privacy at every table, while prompt service provides the feeling there are three waiters for each customer. This setting could upstage the food at a lesser restaurant, but not here. Sushi rolls and fresh seafood are excellent, but the Kobe beef skewers are world-class, surpassed only by the Satsuma beef Wagyu, a delicacy Megu has special permission to import from Japan. Perfect for a business lunch, better still for a dinner date. Oh, and did we mention the 500+ bottles of wine? |
