Modern-day Pocahontases may find their John Smiths here, especially when sipping on MercBar’s infamous and intoxicating Love cocktail. The mood is just right for woodsy romance with vaulted canoes dangling from the ceiling, rustic deer horns mounted on the walls, and sprawling cowhide couches set up for snuggling. Just don’t get too close to the rugged burlap-covered walls, because bouncers fill the place on weekends and rug burns are so not in style this season. As outdoorsy as it sounds, MercBar’s spotlight-filled setting is still as upscale as ever. Just make sure you take it easy on the Love cocktail, or you could be regretfully sharing another drink off Merc’s specialty menu—The Rise and Shine.
For whatever reason some wannabe Preps keep throwing get-to- gethers here.
When I say wannabe I dont mean Harvard/Yale yacthers, more like U-Conn/Trinity/Hamilton punks with pear-shaped future soccer-moms.
Its pretty weak.

This place is so cool. It is the neighborhood hotspot....if you are hot! I saw Christina Aguilera there. I think this place is a chill place for people who know quality and style.

This place is terrible! I have never been around a staff who were more nasty! It was actually shocking! I was told by the waitress that "they are very selective with who gets to sit down here." That is an actual quote. The hostess was beyond a witch- we had given her our name to sit down in the couch area. She took it upon herself to seat 2 people in a space fit for 6 before us. We spoke to the manager about this who could have cared less.. The vibe is just terrible! i would NEVER go back there nor would i refer anyone there myself. Utterly, utterly HORRIBLE!
