Mezzo Mezzo:
Greek restaurants are to Astoria as strip malls and fast food joints are to the rest of America. So the fact that Mezzo Mezzo has survived for over a decade here (in Astoria—and in America, come to think of it) means it must be doing something right. Maybe it's the dark wood décor that's randomly (in a good way) reminiscent of a ski lodge, or the comfort food to match. The place is named for the Greek word for appetizer (twice), so be prepared to start with one of the 22 offered. If, however, you don't eat before eating, cut straight to a pick like the Kota (Mediterranean chicken baked with vegetables, tomato sauce, and cheese, $16.95). Wash it down with a drink from the rather unremarkable beer, wine and liquor selection. But the price is nice, so you'll still grab enough of a buzz to humiliate yourself dancing to the live music upstairs. Yamas!
