Mulberry Street Bar:
Bada-bing. Mulberry St. Bar is practically the official residence of Tony Soprano and his gang, and if you don’t believe us just take a look around—there are “Home to the Sopranos” t-shirts posted for sale above their liquor, and black and white photos from the good ol’ days hung on every wall. Karaoke is Mulberry’s G-rated substitute for the strippers the infamous mobsters usually have around for fun, and here it’s perfectly alright to wail as loud as you like, since the tunes are performed in a separate room which makes singing embarrassment-free for those who need privacy to show off their pipes. There are a few televisions planted on the walls if you would rather watch entertainment than be it, but if you want food at this wacky watering hole be prepared to order in, because the kitchen is non-existent. Mulberry St. is actually more bizarro Soprano than the real thing, perfectly portrayed by the “Tony’s Nut House” mural painted on the mirror over the bar, and the dubious “Chicks Dig Me” shirts donned by the bartenders.
I may be wrong but I hung their in 79 and their was a picture of Tony, his wife and Frank Sinatra behind the bar. A Mahogany phone booth was the center piece and their was a mural of all the regulars painted by an artist that Tony housed on the top floor above... I was working on a building down mulberry, renovation, and Tony befriended me... great guy... the soprano things something new I think.

Nobody's mentioned the jukebox
Tony's Nuthouse (Chiaro di Luna)might not be a go-to bar but it is a fine stop on a bar crawl. One of the best things about it is the jukebox, full of Sinatra, Dino and Company. Play it loud, make believe you're Henry Hill.

Memories
Have gone there for over 15 years during San Gennero Festival and in the beginning it was great. Great characters; Tony sitting on his stool between the two rooms, Jimmy (peaches and cream) regular workers we looked forward to seeing each year. There were actually tables and chairs there then. It changed hands about 4-5 tears ago and as far as we are concerned it lost a lot of it's appeal. No characters' or character there now. Go down to the next block to the Shark Bar now for a better time and better drinks...

OK but a bit on the dull side for such a lively area of NYC. Cash only kinda hurts. Not food in little italy hurts more. Good to go and drink, alone where no one will know (or cares) what your name is.
