This hole-in-the-wall, traditional-style ramen bar is counter service-only and no frills—exactly what’s needed on the UES. Foodies, suits, after-bar crowds and Japanese peeps are lining up to sit next to strangers and simultaneously slurp Japanese brews with steaming noodles. Just $10 will score hungry patrons an enormous bowl of Naruto ramen with greasy pork, topped with narutomaki—the traditional Japanese fish cake stamped with a trippy pink and white swirl. It’s no Per Se, but it’s no Campbell’s chicken noodle either, so enjoy that Sapporo and watch the chefs get down to business.
