Neely's Barbecue Parlour:
Believe it or not, the UES has embraced a down-home BBQ joint—an upscale, celeb-founded, Food Network-endorsed hotspot known as Neely’s (now that makes sense!). Yes, Pat and Gina of Down Home with the Neelys have finally brought their mouthwatering Memphis-style ribs to NYC, and they’re serving up classic soul food like sliced brisket sandwiches ($15) or chicken-fried steak ($20) to seal the deal. There's some hype around these eats, so you may spend time waiting in the pink-and-red (surprisingly coordinated) lounge before being escorted upstairs to the plantation-styled dining area. Once there, you can order tasty and oh-so-Southern drinks (like the Green Tomato Sangria, $8) served in a mason jar for Dixie authenticity. Whether impressing a Southern expat or unwinding after a rough afternoon at Bloomie’s, Neely’s is the perfect spot to snag a slice of the South—in attitude and pecan pie ($17), that is.
