Screw “an apple a day keeps the doctor away”— we know laughter is the best medicine. At least, New York Comedy Club in Gramercy hopes you’ll think so. It might not boast the bigger names of some of its comedy counterparts, but hey—at least the food and drinks are cheap. Tickets range from $10-$12 at the door, but they’re half off if you buy them through the website (newyorkcomedyclub.com). There are all sorts of shows and performers to keep you on the verge of wetting your pants, with everything from open mic (Mondays at 5pm) to Saturday’s Grown Up’s Playground, a sketch comedy group hoping to leave you in stitches. The main room seats 175 and hosts some bigger names, but whether you’re seeing Dane Cook or the funny guy from down the street, as long as you’re laughing and having fun, who really cares?
