Nita Nita is a neat little spot indeed, with all the makings of a fine BK neighborhood bar. From the lackadaisical but friendly staff to the well-planted and spacious patio, this sunny little hideaway is a great setting for a laid-back summer afternoon. Brunch is a particular steal—try the cornmeal pancakes with honey butter and bacon for just $11, and they'll throw in a cocktail for free. The $8 Gouda Mac and Cheese is a best bet for dinner, and may be heavy enough to root you in place until the windowed bar turns into a candle-lit cave after dark. The drink prices scream Manhattan, but Nita Nita's delicious infusions, seasonally rotating specialty drink menu and knowledgeable barkeeps make the $9+ bevvies worth the bills. The only not-so-neat aspect of this neighborhood port is its refusal to take credit cards, but if you hopped the train to 'Burg without knowing to bring a pocketful of cash, don't sweat it—you probably wouldn't fit in here anyway.
