Off The Rails:
Going out on the Upper East Side can be something of a challenge—after all, do you wear your favorite polo or invite your little cousin with the fake ID? Better than your typical dive bar, Off the Rails offers the perfect blend of indigenous UES preps and "this was the cheapest apartment I could find" post-collegiates. With exposed brick walls and wood paneling, this narrow (railroad style?) bar is more a neighborhood haunt than a dating hot spot. Although the interior is a bit cramped, the DJ blasts great dance tunes, the bathrooms are clean and the bar prices are all under $10. Tasty American fare will keep you upright and dancing all night; try the pulled chicken sliders ($9) with fried pickles (frickles! $7) or tater tots ($6) that will have you telling Napoleon Dynamite to get his own. Featuring over 20 beers on tap—everything from Guinness ($7) to Magners Cider ($6) and some brews you've never heard of, Off the Rails may be the classiest drive bar in town.
