Old Rooster: Hear the words "beer garden" and visions of picnic tables, heaping plates of sausages and servers sporting lederhosen polka-dance in your head. While Williamsburg is the home to several full-blown beer gardens (Radegast, Loreley) it is Old Rooster that brings the traditional Polish biergarten experience to the hood. The garden space is polished and cozy—and dare we say, romantic—with several tables-for-two almost entirely hidden behind foliage, booths for mid-sized groups and, of course, a few communal tables. When it’s too chilly for the garden, pour into the dim, warm interior space for a truly old-world experience. Stone walls, low lighting and rustic wooden tables make lifting those steins of Kolsch just as enjoyable (but less obnoxious) as the more boisterous establishments. There’s only one sausage on this menu, but dig into hearty plates of pork tenderloin, steak or burgers and wash it all down with a decent and affordable selection of both German and local brews. So the '80s soundtrack is a little off, but hey, Hall and Oates were huge in Warsaw. |
