The renovation of Todd English's Olives is definitely a step in the right direction: the wooden walls with just a hint of shine give this resto-bar mix a warmer, more welcoming feeling that is hard to find in many high-end spots. The open kitchen gives diners a chance to take a peek at how and where their quite tasty meals are being prepped. A dinner entrée will run you anywhere between $27-$35 and while worth it, the portions aren't gigantic. If you're looking just to chill, scavenge for a seat at the very crowded but fully stocked bar. If you can manage to wrangle the attention of the not-so-pleasant waitstaff, get one of the many suited-up patrons to splurge one of their specialty cocktails for you ($15) or opt for a classic mixed drink ($10). All in all, Olives is a cool place to kick back with your girls during happy hour if you've got the time and money to spare.
