Looking to head North of the Border? Just go East of the East River. Yeah, we realize Williamsburg is practically Canada to most Big City folk anyway, but Ontario—a quaint, yet lively, joint off the L—is a neighborhood bar worth leaving your own neighborhood for. Staying true to its heritage, Ontario offers $4 Canadian bottles and $4 whiskey and maple syrup shots, all to be consumed while watching projections the hit Canadian comedy "Trailer Park Boys” on Mondays. The deerheads on the walls and the Mooseheads in your mug make Ontario almost seem like a Mountie outpost, but the vibe here is much more jovial than at neighboring Grand Street bars. Ontario even has a semi-private alcove up the steps and in the back for romance and/or your fantasy hockey league meetings (and don’t be surprised to walk in on the occasional pot-luck dinner, organized by the amiable staff). So even if the ‘burg isn’t your fair and native land, Ontario is a bar you might never want to ... leaf.
