Park Avenue Tavern: If Midtown suits and skirts had a 6pm dinner bell, it might sound a bit like the clanking of the steel beaded curtains at Park Avenue Tavern. The new American pub offers a full menu, an extensive, expensive wine list (priced to make bottles worthwhile), and a host of trendy cocktails. Try the Ludlow, a delicious concoction of Grey Goose La Poire, orange liqueur, muddled cucumber and pineapple juice— at 8 ounces, it's worth the $12 price tag. Service can be spotty unless, of course, you take advantage of the bar’s greatest redeeming quality—the pay-by-the-ounce tap-it-yourself kegs embedded in six of the downstairs booths. Choose your table based on your beer pref, and take a pull on any of the three taps without fretting about the bill—an automated measurement tool keeps your mounting tab in view. So if you're a beer nut, novelty seeker, power luncher or middle manager who's just dying to be cool, listen for the Park Ave Tavern dinner bells—they're chiming for you. |
