Tired of those LES bars that smell like wet dog and offer little more than lukewarm PBRs and peeps with ridiculous haircuts? Good thing People Lounge is bringing classy back to the nabe, along with a new menu of Pan Asian good eats such as crispy calamari ($6), lemongrass mussels ($12), and Thai chicken ($12). On any given night the upstairs lounge offers projections of indie flicks, comic book signings or speed dating. The faint of heart could get a buzz just from looking at the cocktail menu. Muster up some liquid courage with a lychee mojito (sugarcane rum, muddled lychee, brown sugar, lime, club soda, $9) in order to find a Mr. or Ms. Right…for now.
