Piccoli Trattoria:
Popular restaurants usually become more casual as they add locations (see: Wolfgang Puck restaurants in every single podunk airport), but it’s rare to see a popular take-out joint spin-off a legit sit-down restaurant. But that’s indeed the case with Piccoli Trattoria, a more upscale version of Andres Rodas’s Piccoli to Go. The Argentinian chef’s focus is still on quality and simplicity as he adds more dishes to his Italian take-out menu, whipping up homemade pastas ($8.95-$12.95) and risottos ($7.50-$13.95), all available with meat, chicken, and seafood. The food is solid, and it better be, as without a liquor license, your Sprite isn’t going to get you looped up enough to enjoy crap. The interior is small and slight, simple like the menu with a metal ceiling and chandeliers. In a city that is always go go go, it’s great that a place has decided to slow down the go.
