Pine Box Rock Shop: The Morgantown factory that once created the final resting places for the dead now creates cocktails strong enough to wake the dead—or the extremely hungover, at least. The Pine Box Rock Shop, creepily taking its name from those time-tested corpse containers, is long, slim and constructed of fresh wood just like its namesake, but brightly lit and full of lively energy. That energy likely comes as a result of the quirky ingredients in the bar's dozens of cocktails, such as the Thriller Jesus (Espolon Reposado agave tequila, lime and Tabasco sauce, $10) or the champagne and Raspberry Stoli Tewsie (because what's better than one stiff drink? Two put together!). So what's with the "Rock Shop"? Pine Box's back space will soon be featuring live acts of the rock variety and its bar-top made from old concert stubs has already got people speculating. While that ginormous bar dominates the room, there is a spacious wooden bench area for more intimate gatherings. The most intimate spots, though, are the bathrooms, where a local collage artist has created a set of va-va-voom masterpieces that will rock your socks off. |
