Pinkerton Wine Bar: Tired of Bedford Ave., yet still appreciate a good Weezer reference? You're actually not alone...just take a stroll over to what feels like the last unexplored street in the 'Burg, and you'll find Pinkerton Wine Bar. There in, rivers (Cuomo) of New World wines and a selection of microbrews, flow at affordable prices ($7-$14 for the grape, $3-$8 for the suds). Essentially, expect Williamsburg offerings without Williamsburg pretention, with decor that is similarly relaxed: orange bar stools, brown tables and chairs, a black leather banquette, and weird incongruous crap like disco balls and taxidermy. And since you care about the music selections more than you usually would, you'll be serenaded with a bartender's iPod mix of country, blugrass, indie-pop, blues, and rock - all kept just quiet enough so you can try to remember a song from Pinkerton. Just be careful with the vino...you don't want to spill it and destroy your sweater (whoa, oh oh). |
