Private Park at the Hudson Hotel:
Back in the mid-2000’s, when Manolo Blahniks only cost $300, sophisticated New Yorkers and tourists alike flocked to the Philip Starck-designed Hudson Hotel after it appeared on a little ol' cable show known as Sex and the City. Fast forward one smash series and two SATC movies later, and a new wave of pretty-young-things are destined to descend upon Private Park, an outdoor refuge nestled between the hotel's ivy-covered brick walls. But instead of cosmopolitans (sooo 2004) patrons share warm-weather cocktails such as mojitos and cucumber collins ($55/pitcher) under the starless urban sky. The lush Moroccan-meets-Ming Dynasty decorated oasis attracts a mixed crowd of hotel guests (think chic foreigner, not Midwestern business traveler), midtown workers, and the occasional downtowner desperate for a whiff of uptown air (f.y.i.—smells like fancy Eau de Parfum). As relaxing as Central Park but with fruity cocktails instead of dirty water dogs, Private Park will inevitably revive the Hudson’s hotspot quotient, even without Carrie and crew.
