Promenade: One common use of the term "promenade" comes, of course, from square dancing. So, that's a doubly ironic name for this Chelsea club, which seems to cater to squares dancing. The exception: Those still really into those dying vestiges of nightlife 2007, such as semi-strippers on the bar, reality shows on the tube, bottles service spilling, that vibe from the long departed Home...you get the idea. If this remains your idea of a good time, promenade over, and don't feel like a square getting there early—it's the best way to avoid the line (which curves around the block on weekends) and the $20 cover. Once inside, you'll realize that the line is, unfortunately, more popular than the club, but at least you'll have three tiny floors of debauchery to explore, including clunky décor, crookedly-hanging “art work,” and…er, the bathrooms. We'll admit it: we didn't even last long enough to finish our $15 cocktail. This place is a dosey-don't. |
