Prospect Pond: Ponds...those are good places to find scum, right? Well, a dive into this Pond might not leave you with an icky, filmy feeling, but it is a truly a dive nonetheless. Its size (there's a reason it's not called Lake) and the rotating artwork on the wall won't have you confusing it for the nearby Brooklyn Museum. But despite its small stature, you can expect big sound (live jazz Tuesday and Thursday nights), big drinks (“Shots on the house!” ) and big personalities (the bartenders are comedians). If you miss the older version of the Pond (fittingly named Ripple), the $5 Boilermaker is a worthy holdover. Or, you could just go for the classic dive bar staple: PBR by the pitcher ($10). While the "Prospects" of food can be meager (no, the Doritos pinned on the wall does not count), don't totally rule out the staff providing in pizza for everyone in the bar. With an eclectic mix of neighborhood regulars, hipsters and newbies, you can be sure the Pond won't stagnate as your vision grows murky into the wee hours of the morning. Open daily 4pm-4am.
