Puffy's Tavern: Though better known for its swanky establishments, TriBeCa thankfully comes through for the everyman once in a while. Puffy’s Tavern is one such place where every man (and any woman looking for a man) is welcome to brush off the day with a pint and…another pint. And at $5 each, there’s no excuse not to drink up. The menu is as straightforward as the classic tavern décor with such selections available as Puffmaster Pizza ($7) and, er, Puffmaster with Pepperoni ($8), both of which promise to be baked in Puffy’s “Puffmaster 3000 magical oven.” Sandwiches like the Pavarotti (salami, smoked mozzarella, sundried tomatoes, artichokes and sweet peppers, $10) are available at lunch, and happy hour (essentially 11:30am-8pm daily) sees deals on beer, wine and well drinks. If you subscribe to the mentality that a TriBeCa venue isn’t legitimate unless De Niro has something to do with it, rumor has it he’s been to Puffy’s, too. We weren’t lying when we said every man.
