Radish:
This sweet-as-pie market on Bedford Ave. takes picnicking to an entirely new level. If you don’t mind spending a few bills you’ll be rewarded with a lunch that’ll put any soggy tuna salad to shame; and the place is perfect for a day of impressing your friends at McCarren Park. Thirsty teetotalers are all aflutter over the shops homemade ginger ale, seasonal sodas and Brooklyn egg creams (Radish is booze-free for now). The charming store sells all provisions for a fab fête—the dishes are disposable (and biodegradable) and cutlery is made from fallen banana leaves. You can even grab a comfy canvas blanket and French market basket. The glass counter is filled with bright seasonal salads and prepared dishes, like the homemade Mac and Cheese and lamb meatballs, made from locally-sourced ingredients and seasonal produce. No, you’re not in Hudson Valley, but you can feel smug knowing that you’re eating a piece of socially-conscience meat. It’s the Brooklyn way.
