Nowhere else but in New York City could you find a bar frequented by off-duty detectives and young artists alike who don’t mind sharing drinking space. Upon entry you realize that this is a dive bar in every sense of the word. Usually there is just one person working and they stick to pouring drinks. The bar itself is tiny and quaint, but has enough room for groups. Your conversations are safe from the cops as the din from the Metro North trains on elevated tracks silences all when passing by. Raggs of Harlem has drinks that are strong and cheap, plus $1 Miller Genuine Drafts every day and generous bartenders. You’re as welcome to celebrate loudly as you are to get soused silently. Karaoke takes hold on Thursdays, while Tuesday is "flip night."
