The pretentiousness of the doormen outside Kiss & Fly must be contagious, because its newest neighbor RDV (aka Rendezvous) is just as hush-hush and exclusive. Located underneath French restaurant and bar Bagatelle, you’ll find the newest subterranean “private” lounge from nightlife players Randy Scott, Aymeric Clemente, and Remi Laba. You might have to be a fancy-pants get in, but the Old-World-looking space (antique couches, dark wood, candlelight) from designer and co-owner David Graziano is actually a nice high-low mix: Sip a glass of Dom Perignon while playing a round of chess. If that’s not enough lure, the fact that the opening night party was for music man John Legend should indicate that this is the new place to RDV. Open Tues.-Sat. 10:30pm-4am.
This place is horrible. The bouncer at the door would not allow me into a party I was invited to and had RSVPed to! I had my confirmation with me. They discriminate against people over 40 -- even if you are good looking and well-dressed! He was obnoxious, rude and verging on violent. Don't go here unless you want to be abused.
