Red Bar & Lounge:
There aren't many spots above 14th St. that allow you to chuck wet napkins at its ceiling. However, K-town’s Red Bar & Lounge encourages it. Before throwing back their signature "Tornado" bombs (Coors Light and Johnnie Walker Black), the mostly Asian crowd have to throw to the sky the napkin coaster soaked by the very same mixture. Yes, the mixology and practice is odd, but this Korean tradition is a surprisingly perfect way to ease the stress after a long day in your midtown cubicle. So is the private karaoke room in this slick, black-light lit, rouge-red, converted apartment lounge dressed with plush couches and modern Asian artwork. Just watch out for the paper droppings.
I'm not Asian, but was taken here by a non-Asian friend when visiting NY. We loved this place and of course the famous Tornado!! Very swanky, very chill. Good vibe and great service that night.

UPGRADE
Red bar definitely got an upgrade after the owner/boss recently hired new staff... I've never seen most of the new waitresses before. Even though the place is pretty small it's cozy and not too crowded and stuffy like some other places. The customer service is definitely on top of its game. The new servers/bartenders are all hot asian chicks. Not only are they attractive, but they have great personalities too. They greet you right when you come through the door and they're great company. Overall this place is so much better than it used to be, hands down. Definitely coming here more often now.

Loved it!
I came here with a couple of friends on a Friday night. The bartender and server are extremely friendly and I loved the fire shot. I tried each of their $5 cosmos/gimlet/kamikazees and was satisfied with the drinks. I came back here on a Saturday night because I had so much fun! Fridays and Saturdays are the best nights. I will be back there for sure!

I've been coming to Red Bar for over 6 years now, and NEVER have I had any of these things that the people below are talking about. The waitstaff is super friendly (and cute), the crowd is diverse, from all kinds of backgrounds, the music is great (European DJs). As far as the negative comments from other folks, I'm guessing maybe somebody was having a bad night and decided it was the establishments fault. I plan on coming to Red Bar for a long time, I love this place...

Wow, I must say this place is not what I expected not only was the service terrible, the drinks were overly expensive and the crowd were young wannabe asian gansters. I must say worst lounge/bar in Koreatown. The decor is somewhat old and dirty looking and the waiters and bartender hardly spoke english. Worst place in NYC. If you wanna great night out in the city GO SOMEWHERE ELSE !!!!!!
