Red Velvet:
Let them eat cupcakes. For those of you who have not seen Sofia Coppola’s Marie Antoinette, Red Velvet Lounge recreates the sweet decadence of those days before she lost her head. Heavy velvet and pure opulence drench the petite quarters; plush banquettes clutter the walking zone; palatial fixtures illuminate the space—all resulting in a semi-clandestine party packed full of The Eldridge crew and other LES locals. Servers costumed in red silk chemises, fishnets and high, high heels saunter with trays of libations (positively correlated with Gramercy Park Hotel’s menu) and tiny cupcakes (courtesy of Baked by Melissa). If it seems decadent, that's because it is, but fear not the guillotine: Marie Antoinette and King Louis XVI smile safely down at your from the ceiling fresco. Oh la la!
Red Velvet is small, but definitely a good time. I suggest getting a table because its narrow but theres still room to dance. The cupcakes were sooo good! and the changing lights were cool. Its a cozy little spot.. will for sure come back

Went to red velevt this past weekend, it was about 3am. NO line, doorman checks id's and then leaves us standing there waiting for what, who knows....As we are waiting we see a server coming out of the rando building next door with cupcakes, ok so that was kind of weird. About 5 mins later a Kelis look alike pops out and simply says hi and walks back in. Shortly after the doorman informs us WE were suppose to talk to HER. Last I checked I wasn't the one working. Needless to say I won't be going back. Know your place, your on Rivington past Essex, since when was that an exclusive neighborhood.
