Redemption: Teetering on the corner of 53rd and second sits Redemption, still trying to decide whether it’s a bar, lounge, or restaurant. With high tables and plasma TVs, it is barely distinguishable from its fellow neighborhood establishments save a slightly older and less “Jersey Shore” crowd. The fare is, well...fair (with welcome exceptions like a tuna burger and deep fried pickles) and the cocktails, hovering at $9, include punch made with black cherry vodka, Pama, fresh lemon juice, and soda. Nightly specials and the prices that accompany them are clutch, as are the seasonal Sam Adams offerings on tap ($4 on Wed/Th). Perhaps most notable is the service; eager to offer drink advice if you can hear them over the unnecessarily loud music. Life is about the journey, not the destination, as is Redemption, fine for an after-work drink or a convenient pregame spot, but by no means worth seeking out. |
