ReRun Theater: Thanks to this newly-opened “gastropub” theater inside the popular Dumbo bar/restaurant reBar, you can experience a movie like your parents did—snuggling up next to your sweetheart in a bucket seat, drinking beers out of cans and snacking on popcorn topped with duck fat. Okay, okay, so maybe reRun isn't exactly your parent's drive-in. For one, there's no actual driving involved—but there is a bar where you can park yourself a half hour before the flick to enjoy an appropriately-themed cocktail (try "The Backseat," $13) or a glass of wine ($9-$10). The munchable sustenance is also a few steps up from Milk Duds, in the form of fender dogs (steak sausage, $6, chicken sausage, $8), saddle bags (stuffed foccacia, $6) and snow tires (ice cream sandwiches, $5). Or, have your goodies delivered right to your minivan bench and dine while you take in the evening's film choice—mostly independent films curated by Aaron Hillis. Of course, sometimes indie films can be too quirky for their own good (such as reRun's opening selection, "Audrey the Trainwreck"), which gives you an excuse for some good ole drive-in heavy petting. |
