Reunion Surf Bar: Since when do you travel two flights down to check out the surf scene? Since the day this Hell’s Kitchen joint hung a yellow board on the door. While there is no official "dress code," we think it's a good bet to say cut-offs and flip flops are the standard attire here (at least for the wait staff). With weathered blonde wood, graffiti-inspired artwork and a bar made of vintage surfboards, there’s just enough kitsch to make it feel miles away from Times Square without becoming the Rainforest Café. The bar takes it name from an exquisite tropical isle off the coast of Madagascar, and pays homage to the real Reunion with a long list of infused rums, as well as beachy-keen frozen cocktails like the city’s first “Frozen Corona.” Definitely try the Dark & Stormy, with black rum, ginger-infused white rum, ginger beer, fresh pineapple, orange and lime. Or if you're hardcore, skip the mixers and go for a mangosteen-infused 'rhum arrange'. It's a great conversation starter, and with all the tanned surfer dudes and dolls running around, it might just help you land the big Kahuna.
