ReVision Lounge: New Yorkers are used to passing by heaping piles of junk on the sidewalks, but inside our bars? East Village lounge ReVision is chock-full of such crap—and you’ll be content paying good money to sip your cocktail amongst it. Broken skis, bent-up bicycle wheels, busted skateboards and scratched-up coffins have been transformed (“revisioned”) into stylish couches, colorful barstools and an eye-catching DJ booth, giving it more of an interactive modern-art gallery vibe than your usual watering-hole. Twenty years of collecting has produced a space where nearly every item is recycled, making it a superb stop-in spot for those bored with the dive-y East Village bar scene. Sip a Silk Thai (vodka, tawny port, thai basil, Velvet Falernum, lemon and egg whites) and have fun discovering the hidden treasures, like traffic-light lamps and a shredded-money bar-top. Any pretentiousness seems, thankfully, confined to the website—while reservations, bottle service and 25-and-older rules are touted, no one is being turned away, at least for now. The current all-are-welcome policy would be smart to continue—after all, what is more down-to-earth than drinking in a bathtub?
