Revolver:
How do you open a Lower East Side rock bar/club without attracting the Ludlow Street poseur parade? Open it so far off the beaten path that only the truly bold will make the trek. That’s what the straight-shooting proprietors behind Revolver have done, and the locale will either be its saving grace or its death knell – stay tuned. Speaking of tunes, the space is rather cool and it rocks with a soundtrack that blends '80s underground with a bit of pop-metal, and the occasional Zeppelin classic. Modern bands like The Strokes and The Bravery seem to be crowd favorites and everything is played at ear-splitting levels. The mid-sized room has a small but well-handled bar on one wall and wallpaper prints of Warhol’s Elvis on the other. The crowd is more so wanna-be models than downtown hipsters. Signature cocktails like the "Cobrasnake" and "Devil's Water" beckon scenesters bent on pseudo-celebrity.
