If you've been longing for that Polynesian spring break trip since college, just head downtown to Riff Raff's, an underground bar attached to its big sister The Hurricane Club. Take in the culture with the authentically designed tiki hut, complete with museum-grade tapestries lining the walls and ceiling, while NYC wildlife hangs from the rafters (seriously). Riff Raff is not for the faint of heart, so don your warrior face paint (the cocktail waitresses apply it to patrons throughout the night) and join the 3am conga line. Need a drink to loosen up? Sip on The Coconut—tropical deliciousness served in a real coconut and completed with a colorful umbrella, or opt for one of the punch bowls, like The Flamingo—a giant fruity concoction from behind the bar topped with a huge (plastic) pink flamingo. Riff Raff's caters to the same upscale crowd as the Meatpacking District, but in a more relaxed and festive environment. The club is packed by 12:30am, so call ahead (use the number for The Hurricane Club) or email them to book a table. Just make sure you wash the face paint off before work.
