Robert @ Museum of Arts and Design: If you're the sort that only goes to museums on Free Day, do yourself a favor and completely skip Robert, a swift and velvety restaurant/lounge located on the 9th floor of the Museum of Arts and Design. Sure, the décor is pretty posh, but Robert's ritzy-fritzy patrons will surely let you know that you aren't in Columbus anymore. Tinkling jazz, pink lights and plush, sea-shell chairs beckon you to sit and enjoy your stay, but don't think you'll be ordering Amstels and snacking on nachos while enjoying the exquisite view of the circle. Instead, go crazy with a Mad Manhattan or brood with a Dark and Stormy (both $12). Food is served as well—who doesn't eat Torchon of Valley Foie Grois on a Tuesday night?—but good luck with the pronunciations of most items (or spending less than a wad of 20s for the priviledge of trying). Listen, this place is for people to be seen, so if you don't belong, that being-seen will take on the form of stares. Pretension Level: Red. |
