Rosarito's Fish Shack and Tequila Bar:
If the fish shacks of family summer trips to the shore included mouth-watering shrimp enchiladas, spicy mezcal cocktails and wait staff that looked like the cast of America's Next Hipster Model, then you might actually still agree to go on them. But they weren't, and you don't. So while the rellies are off in Cape-something waiting in line for their stomachache-inducing lobster roll, the black sheep are flocking to Rosarito's Fish Shack, with all quaintness of a coastal crab shack and 99% less mayo. Although there is still a line, a lengthy wait at the bar needn't be all torture—your mind and taste buds will be distracted with the tequila-centric cocktail list, which expertly pairs mezcal with cilantro and guava in the Que Hongo! ($10). And here, the wait will be worth it. Dishes like red snapper quesadillas ($9), lobster tacos ($13) and a "hotdog" (bacon-wrapped octopus, say wha?!) taste as feisty as their smells suggest—and not just because those bebidas have you well on your way to getting a little out of hand yourself.
