Royale:
The dark wood interior and rather after-work-looking 30ish crowd no matter what time of day makes the former C-Note appear like a beer bar; except, despite some interesting picks, the tap selection is nowhere near the size of those at nearby d.b.a. or Croxley Ales. A jukebox filled with less modern though then-popular rock tunes a la “Eye of the Tiger” implies that a lost bit of kitsch is lurking beneath the surface, though it never really comes through. But if you’ve seen Pulp Fiction, when you heard “Royale,” you thought what we thought – badass hamburgers. That this spot has in spades. For $5-$8, diners can really pile picnic-style toppings onto not only burgers, but a serviceable range of sammies, and $3 sides of steak fries seal the deal. The 25-30-person backyard space is respectable too, but unlike the case with most Avenue C bars, folks here would rather be watching the TVs above the bar.
Beautiful place east village. Excellent food, great atmosphere. But the music was really loud the night I was there. It was a shame because the ambiance is really cool except for the blaring music. Good thing I liked the songs they were platying but I was with my mom and she was really uncomfortable. Not to mention we couldn’t hea each other well. We both really liked the food though

The backyard area has a deck and a lower area, both are very accommodating to groups. Drinks are good as are the prices...but the bathrooms are what sets this bar apart. I hate going to a bar that has a terrible bathroom. How am I supposed to powder my nose with a dirty floor, no mirror, and wet countertop? Royale has a royal flush! Best bathroom around!
