Salon Hecho: Just a year after Hecho en Dumbo opened up on Bowery, the resto is offering a new counterpart, Salon Hecho, conveniently located right next door. Minimalist (just like its mama), Salon is outfitted with black leather couches and modern tables, providing a sleek but cozy space to sip Mexican booze without the mayhem of a chaotic crowd. The interior may be chic and beautifully decorated, but the true purpose of this place is never obscured; people are here to get their hands on Salon Hecho’s tequilas and mezcals. For a punch-packing quickie, try out Dos Pistolas, which includes a shot of mezcal and a beer ($16-$23). Craving something a bit more old-school? Opt for a Curado, traditionally cured mezcal, served in an old medicine glass bottle (2 oz., $17-$22). Classic quaffers might opt instead for a cocktail like the Flor Morada (organic crop vodka, hibiscus flower tea, Combier and lime, $11) or one of their wines ($8-$15) paired with a light appetizer ($7-$9). But no matter what you order, this new Hecho locale provides a lower-key mescal-fueled scene to please Brooklyn hipsters and UES socialites alike.
