A Sunday afternoon during Broadway matinee hours isn’t the best time to visit Midtown’s desolate Restaurant Row, which caters to hungry theater-goers before and after the shows. But hopes were high that the sunny tapas restaurant, Sangria 46 would bring about a bright spot. Unfortunately, the cheesy red and white Spanish-themed tourist trap was too over-the-top. Though the bistro features five types of sangria, festive tapas treats like Jamon Serrano (hand cut Serrano ham), and setas rellenas (stuffed mushrooms), and a cheeky backyard garden area with bull fighter mural and fountain, the simplistic presentation, plastic back patio chairs, and flashy decor made the scene feel like an overpriced Olive Garden for the suburban set. A Prix Fix prê-theatre dinner menu tries to add flair to the tacky wine and dine experience, but comes up costly. As Americanized Spanish rock blares from the speakers, patrons will be wishing for a hokey Mariachi band to come out to serenade their table. At least it would complete the tacky theme.
Nice Tapas and fantastic blend of sangrias we love this place and keep going back good thing we only live a few blocks away.

not that great at all .. i have had better ... my mother-in-law makes the ultimate best paella ... sangria 46's paella dish as well as their lobster dish had no flavor at all. sangria's were good. waitstaff rushed us out.

Since I have lived in Hells kitchen for over 7 years I have learned to avoid what most locals say about Restaurant Row. Let me start by saying I have about 4 favorite places on the row for french I go to La Rivage for Spanish Meson Sevilla for Italian Barbeta and for strictly Tapas Sangria 46. I give these guys credit There Tapas menu is great and the Sangrias are fantastic and fresh. The service is polite and with a smile but at the end of the meal the food and its nice spanish ambiance is what wins in this place. So i say if you are a local and live in Hells Kitchen like I am ignore the morons that can not even cook a boiled egg and only know to order pre heated pizza made my some goat herder and explore Restaurant Row and enjoy its cuisine . Heck after all some of these places have been here since the bad crak and hooker days so they must be cooking some thing good to stay that long
