SegaFredo Zanetti Espresso NYC: Touting the “#1 espresso in the world,” Italian chain Segafredo marries coffee cafe with cocktail lounge, something no one (in America) has really ever asked for or knew they needed. At the clubby spot you can get a simple cup of high-quality hot black coffee ($2.75) on one end, iced frappes on the other ($5), with countless of espresso drinks of all types in between ($2.50-$3.50), or perhaps go for something a little stronger, with spiked caffeine concoctions like the iced Verona with Kahlua, cream, and mint ($7.50) and plenty of wines, Prosecco, and even Miami-inspired club cocktails like mojitos and other frozen drinks ($10). The smallish interior is modern and cool, the scene perhaps a little too loud and clubby for grabbing a coffee or certainly trying to get some work done. Food options are better than expected coffeehouse fare, plying housemade paninis ($9.50-$10) and focaccia ($9-$10), even several carpaccio ($10), not to mention plenty of desserts like tiramisu ($7.50). OK, so it’s not exactly Starbucks—but who says that's a bad thing?
