Session House:
A new addition to Midtown East’s loud Second Avenue scene, Session House is a cookie cutter bar not altogether different from the nearby raucous and packed mainstays Sutton Place and Turtle Bay, except for the fact that it’s...not raucous and packed. Will it be the same way in a few months when the aforementioned bars start using it for spillover traffic? Hard to say, but for now, Session House is a classy and rustic spot with a pleasant atmosphere and a pleasant scene. It says “Bar + Kitchen” on the facade, but the menu is still in the works, so fortunately the drinks are solid fare (mango margaritas, $7; wine starting at $6; and you can even have the (unrelated) Session Lager for $4). There’s also an upstairs bar should you get tired of drinking at sea level. So, if you’re on Second Avenue come happy hour and want to have a cold one without feeling like an old one (amongst all the drunken youngsters), Session House might be the place for your drinking session.
