Shadow
Dancing to the beat of your own drummer. Shakin’ your groove thang. Working it. No matter what you call it, Shadow may just be the dance club for you. Despite the rules at this Thursday-Saturday club—no youngsters, “no scrubs,” and no jeans, sneakers, or other offending clothing—it’s unpretentious and just plain fun. DJs spin everything from hip-hop and R&B to hot and sweaty, bumping-and-grinding reggae for the groovin’ dancers on the large dance floor. $10-$15 will get you in the door on Friday-Saturday, while Thursdays are—gasp!—free. Don’t miss singles nights, where you might just pick up your latest squeeze, or nights featuring special guest stars like Salt ’n’ Pepa’s DJ Spinderella. Just remember to push it...push it good.

The Shadow

The last time I went to the shadow I had a really nice time which was years ago. I've been told the vibe has changed a lot since then. i love dancing wondering if the grown and sexy crowd is still there.

LUV THE SHADOW

The Shadow is not for everybody..If you are looking for a club filled with stuck up broke ass "models" looking for a table with a bottle they can get felt up on for a sip..go somewhere else. The Shadow is a "big gurl freindly" crowd with a big "Cougar" population on the prowl for a young conquest to sweat it out with all night! There really is no dress to impress policy in place anymore..just tell your fella to leave the Pradas at home. They can be picky when they want..Especially on the younger less "regular" males. If you know someone at the door ...u are good to go. P.S. Book a birthday for $50 gets you a bottle of champagne and no wait admission b4 1am for 10 friends.

I went to Club Shadows a few weeks ago. I wore a very nice suit and tie. I think I was the only one in the club with a suit on. I'm thinking about going tonight. I'm not sure what to wear.

I reside out of state now ,but decided to visit one of my favorite clubs recently, while in town visiting family for the holidays! I went to the club on a thursday night. Now I have been going to the Shadow for many yrs, not so often in recent yrs but lets just say that I was there the first night they opened at the end of 95, and from that day forth it became one of my favorite clubs to party at. The Shadow built it's reputation on being the "venue choice of NYC's mature, best looking , well dressed ,sophisticated crowd". They lived up to that reputation for many yrs but now from what I have seen, it has now gone downhill. I knew that it was only a matter of time ,when a couple of yrs ago they began to relax their dress code. They started off saying designer jeans for ladies and dark jeans for men, but they have taken it even farther! In all my yrs attending Shadow never have I seen so many casually dressed men and women going up in the club.I had to look at the sign to make sure that I was at the Shadow and not some other hiphop spot.
They have signs that indicate no sneakers, but I observed several men enter the club with sneakers and timberlands! They majority of the men were wearing jeans and most were hanging off their a*s. I saw alot of older women( which is not a bad thing, because I am part of that 30+ crowd), but these women looked a hot mess, rolling up in their with clothing too small, showing, jelly rolls, a*s and no class. I was disgusted! What happened to the Shadows mature, well dressed crowd? There was a time that well dressed men in suits or dress slacks were the majority. They are now the minority. If you dress up you will standout because most of the people in attendance on thurs were very casual. I could count the men in suits on my hands literally because they stood out like sore thumbs. The music was ok,but the crowd was lackluster in my opinion. I also noticed that the men working the door weren't looking at id's ,like they used to. The age requirement to gain admission has decreased to 21+, which is another downside. Why would the Shadow alienate their original crowd by trying to appease individuals who don't feel like dressing up? There are more than enough clubs catering to the casual, jeans and timbs 21+crowd the Shadow was supposed to be a different type of venue, setting standards for what a grown and sexy establishment is supposed to be.To say that I was shocked and highly dissappointed would be an understatement. The Shadow is quite frankly NOT the club it used to be! The music can be good, depending on which night you go,but the overall club experience is a let down, if you are part of that 25+ well dressed, classy crowd that enjoys partying with other mature individuals in a sophisticated atmosphere. I hope that they re evaluate their standards and make changes for the better in the future! The same thing happened with Bentleys! The Shadow used to be home of NY's best looking crowd now its just Average.
